Sunset Peak or Tai Tung Shan (Chinese: 大東山)

It is Hong Kong's third highest peak and well known for having the beautiful sunset view in Hong Kong. In winter, most of the trees will turn into brown and yellow which is so beautiful. We are said to meet at Tun Chung Station at 13.00 p.m. After getting out of the station, we walk about 300 meter to find the bus stop to queue for taking the 3M line. While taking the bus, we could also enjoy the view along the way so that we won't get car sick and enjoy the nature at the same time.

We start our hike when the bus stops at Pak Kung Au Station. Almost the entire route is small rock stairs, leading straight towards the peak. It takes about 2.5-3 hours to reach the sunset viewpoint. The directional signs are there along the way, so do not worry about getting lost.

Along the way, if you are tired, there're several stops for taking photos. We could climb up these rocks to get chic photos while taking rest and drinking water. When we are up this high, it gets a bit difficult to breath. Of course, the view along the way is very beautiful, though some area is still green while most of them already turn yellowish.

When we reach the Sunset peak, all I can see is that the view is extremely peak, peak, and peak and beautiful. We have a 360 degree view with only blue sky, mountains, and sea without any skyscraper to make us feel uncomfortable. We can totally forget that here is Hong Kong.

I'm so happy that we are here on time for the sunset, it is so romantic. While hiking up, we could feel really tired. But once we see this view, everything is paid off and even more worthy than expected. I've never thought of seeing something like this in Hong Kong....

After the sun is set, it's time to walk back. We choose to go back on the same route as it's the shortest and fastest route. Once we got the sunset view, we should hurriedly walk down because the route is quite steep and dark. If it's really dark, we could use a flashlight from our phone. Also, do not forget to bring a mosquito repellent too as Hong Kong mosquito at night are big and very hungry.

Just prepare well, I think hiking in Hong Kong is not difficult as we might think of. See you again in our next trip....
