3 Days 4 Nights: Ranong-Chumphon 2026

Long weekend this month is 1-4 May. So, we "Pai Tiew Kan group" who had great experiences together in Chumphon in 2025. 

We planned travel to the south by overnight train again. Same train number just difference station to drop off. The destination this time is Ranong province. 

But Ranong do not have train station, so we have to get off at Chumphon station and continue with minivan.

We booked minivan whose take care us during last trip in Chumphon and the driver Mr.X is very nice guy.

One week before travel. We agreed to try "Portrait 9 shots Color hunting challenge". We are 8 persons this time （Fang Fang joined us again）. So, there are 8 colors that we have to find. Deer = Green, R = Yellow, Tonnam = Orange, Ple=Pink, P=Blue, Pingpong=Red, Fang=Brown and me go with Purple. The challenge started on 30th night when we arrived to Bangsue train station. 

Our trip was planned with 4 nights (1st night on the train from Bangkok,2nd night at farm stay resort,3rd night at small hotel near the beach,4th night on the train back to Bangkok). The program of this trip is experiencing hot spring which famous in Ranong province, visit local market, museum and temple, try local food, snorkeling and swimming.

30th April - we left Bangkok with night train at 22.50hrs and to arrive Chumphon station around 05.22hrs of 1st May. And our new journey begins. 

We arrived to Chumphon train station around 6am and Mr.X already there.

First breakfast of this trip was at Mang Korn restaurant.

This is one of popular breakfast for Thai people （as well as us). Clear soup with Pork blood, minced pork with pork offal

Put some pepper power, chili in venegar

Eat with steam jasmine rice. 

Some of this kind restaurant serve free drinking water with ice and some serve tea with ice. After breakfast, we look for some coffee. Luckily there is Panthai coffee shop next to the restaurant.

I am their member, so we got special price around THB 27/menu.

After coffee shop, we left Chumphon and heading to Ranong.

We came from the 38 degrees in Bangkok. But the weather here is difference.

We stopped at the temple name "Wat Pak Jan". The old temple on the mountain. The architecture of the temple looks like temple in Myanmar. 

We met a kind woman cleaning the temple and she told us that long time ago there was a monk master of the temple who is Thai Myanmar, so no wonder. 

Besides of the Myanmar architecture at the mountain. There is a big Quan yin sculpture at the viewpoint as well.

We left the temple and visit another view point.

From this view point we can see another side of Myanmar

And the next stop was the hot spring name Tarin Hotspring. This hotspring belong to private with good services and facilities.

We paid THB 150/person for the sharing 7 persons. Fang wants to try private zone, so she paid THB 250. 

They have separate changing and shower room for male and female. All area is clean. We spent around one hour in and out at the hotspring and then left for lunch.

Fish in hot and spicy yellow soup

And signature dish, boiled salted fish which we can eat all part of the fish including the bones.

And dessert was signature 3D ice-cream

If you look for southern food, this restaurant is recommended.

Finished lunch before we go to check in at Baan Rai I arun. We stopped at the old house.

Listen to the local people telling the legend of the house was good

I like visiting old house. Especially Chinese style house which have to garden in the middle of the house.

The garden with flower and small tree in the garden in the middle of the house help the house get good air flow.

Infront of the house decorated with the red umbrellas but I did not ask the reason of this decoration. However, it looks nice.

We left the house and continue directly to Baan Rai I arun. Because this place is very beautiful, so we do not want to arrive too late evening.

Just a few minutes for check in process and enjoy welcome drink. We got our rooms.

We booked 3 houses for 4pax, 2pax, 2pax.

My room for 4 persons. The decoration is amazing.

It is a duplex cottage with lovely terrace

And the last one for R and Tonnam

All houses are very beautiful. And the green surrounding is amazing.

Everyone spent around an hour to relax at each house before ready for dinner at 6pm.

The restaurant located close to lobby separate from accommodation area.

And on the way to restaurant we have to walk through beautiful garden again

The decoration of the restaurant with wood and bamboo looks so classic

We order food from menu in advance.

All dishes come with flowers.

This is our first time eating this kind of flower with food. But all of them are organic so they are good for health and no chemical as well. 

After dinner, we walked back to our room and it already dark. However, the night still long and we complete our dinner with their bakery. Banoffee, Blue berry cheesecake, Young coconut cake, Strawberry cake and orange cake

All pieces of cake look so nice. But I cannot explain how the taste is. So, let the picture say

We also prepared some game to play during the trip as always. 

There was a funny game and made everyone laugh out loud

After fun game, we separated for bed and 2nd night （1st night was on the train） of the trip gone.

1st May - since our program is to stay 1 night at the farm stay resort name "Baan Rai I Arun" So, Pingpong had idea to wear Overalls because all staff at the resort they wear this kind of cloths as their uniform. 

We can choose the place for our breakfast, and we were lucky to arrive venue early so we chose 2 sala.

We had ordered our breakfast since we checked in so we did not wait too long. There are 2 options of breakfast that we chose. American breakfast set and local food noodle with curry

Noodle with curry came with color vegetable and flower again

Noodle and curry are buffet, and the taste of fish curry is so delicious.

We can choose one hot or cold drink and they served with some local dessert and snack

American breakfast also not bad

We had beautiful breakfast with colorful flower on our food and also around area

Besides of breakfast area, I can say all area around resort are beautiful.

Most of all, their staff are friendly and service with smiley faces

We left Baa Rai I arun, finally and we strongly recommend this place for everyone who look for beautiful place for overnight or even for a piece of cake with drink or luch or dinner.

From Baan Rai, we stopped by at the famous roti shop.

This is famous roti shop. We should try only their roti. But up on arrival, Tonnam ordered fried checken

And original roti to eat with condense milk

And roti with egg. There are few customers the shop and I'm sure they though we just had late breakfast. But actually, they were wrong as we had full breakfast from resort and it was around 2 hours :)

Finished all dishes and continue to visit one temple name "Wat Baan Ngao （Baan Ngao temple） " we did not know much about this temple, but our driver said this is famous temple for local people. 

The next stop after 30 minutes on the road was a cafe name Nai Mhong (Mhong=in the jungle)

The cafe located in the middle of the jungle with small bridge and seating inside the jungle

However, their drink is good. I order green mango with salt plum slushy, and it was good.

We spent around 30 minutes at the cafe

Before we left the cafe, we got idea for photo of the day with OOTD （Outfit of the Day）

We arrived Chumphon and check in at our hotel "Baan Talay"

It was around 5pm which is good time to enjoy swimming at the beautiful beach. This beach is one of the most beautiful beaches in Chumphon province.

This is small a hotel, but they have 2 sup board for inhouse guess free of charge

 Tonnam, Ple, R and I ran to the sea with sup board

The beach is so beautiful and the weather was so good as well

I played this sport many times in difference places. But this is first time for Ple and Tonnam and I think they both had talent for this sport. They practice just few minutes, and they can play by themselves.

After sunset around 6pm we came back from the sea and refresh then prepared for our dinner. And our dinner was bbq on the beach but my mobile out off battery so we did not take good photos.

We walked back to hotel （around 35m） and before separate to each room. We have small celebration for Deer and Ping's pre-birthday 

This small hotel is so nice. THB 1400/room/night with breakfast, WIFI, cable tv and very good services. Just cross the beach road then you can reach the sandy beach.

3rd May - since our train schedule to Bangkok is after midnight so we booked snorkeling tour with hotel. I woke up early morning because I want the photos of sunrise on the beach

And the beach in the early morning was so calm and relax

And I got beautiful sunrise shots

Around 8am, the driver picked us from hotel to the pier

And our tour started

The tour to visit 4 islands

And we were enjoyed snorkeling

We were so lucky this time. There was big group of dolphins swimming around our boat. Everyone was excited and enjoyed taking video. 

In general, this tour is good. The tour company and staff provide good services. And the sea is beautiful. There are lots of fishes and coral reef. After tour, they served coconut and coconut ice-cream and send us back to hotel.

We had booked extra night for 1 room to keep all luggage because we arrived back to hotel around 6pm. After shower, we all walked out to have dinner at local restaurant near hotel.

We finished dinner around 8pm and walked back to hotel. The driver will pick up us at 10pm so we still have time for relax. The local truck came on time and it was around 20 minutes we arrived to the train station.

This is our 2nd time get on the train at this station with the same train number. The train arrived at 01.05am. 

I think now we enjoy taking overnight train for our trip. The bed, pillow, blanket are clean and comfortable. Rest rooms are clean, charging port are available

We arrived at Bang sue station around 08.45am. And 4th May was public holiday, so we had 1 day for relax before start working on 5th May.

As I had mentioned from beginning that we had some mission for this trip "Color hunting". And here are what we got from our trip. And here are what we had done.
